I have always had a passion for riding horses. I began riding when I was two years old! I remember camping behind Steven’s Pass somewhere and I was riding double with my mom on her old Appaloosa. I started competing when I was five! I had my first Walk/Trot competition and I still have the trophy in my room!Hunt Seat Equitation has been the discipline I have loved since I was five years old. I tried Dressage and Driving (with a cart!) and Western, but always returned to Hunt Seat. When I was eight I started competing in Saddle Seat. I also loved Western when I won Western Equitation World Championship class at World Championships in 2003 – 2004 I retired my horse and from the show ring. Today, I have put my energy into winning Nationals for Hunt and Saddle Seat!
In 2001, I won my first National title and since then have won 12 National Titles and have over 20 Top Ten Titles to my record. I even won two world Championships in Western Equitation. Equitation has always been where I put all my effort when it comes to riding. My sister won the gold medal and it really inspired me to do my best in Equitation as well.
Putting all my effort into riding has been hard on my academic career, however, Chrysalis has helped me find a middle ground between my academics and riding. This year has been an equal focus on academics and riding. Being at Chrysalis has been a relief for me because I can ride and go to school while maintaining good grades.
This show season I won two Regional Championships in Equitation and Pleasure. I brought home six blue ribbons this show season in three shows. I am currently on the US Team Morgan Saddle Seat Equitation Team, in August our team won Gold against the highly competitive team from South Africa. At Nationals this year I received three Top Ten National Titles at World’s and also out of 40 riders, I was called back to ride and received a Top Twelve Rider in the highly competitive Hunt Seat Equitation World Champion Class.
Riding has always been something I love and I have set high goals for myself. I’m grateful to be at Chrysalis because I have found a great fit where I can achieve those goals in both my academics and my riding.
