Chrysalis was founded in 1983. We have celebrated many of our students' accomplishments over the years in academics, in sports, in the arts, and in service to their communities. Our graduates are now parents, musicians, dancers, athletes, entrepreneurs, police officers, teachers, dental assistants, car mechanics, lawyers, and scriptwriters.

FACILITIES

We have a 20,000 square-foot high school campus with offices, classrooms, 3 computer labs, a media room (with 50 Mbps cable Internet access and college resources), and 2 multipurpose rooms. There is a cafe adjacent to the school. We have an open campus policy. The elementary and middle school campus is 6,000 square feet with offices, classrooms, a computer lab, an activity room, and an outdoor play area.

CURRICULUM

Small-Group Classes: Chrysalis offers small-group classes of 8-10 students. Some classes are core college preparatory classes and follow a traditional syllabus. Other classes are oriented more towards individual interests and vary based on student input. See our course catalog.

Individual Appointments: Chrysalis places an emphasis on learning independently, requiring students to become self-directed, using time away from school to learn. Independent learning through a one-to-one mentor relationship with a teacher allows for students’ interests and abilities to be taken into consideration when designing their overall curriculum. While the content of this student/teacher time is mostly academic and instructional in character, it is the personal relationship that emerges from this contact that is most influential.

DIPLOMA REQUIREMENTS (19 credits)

3 English, 2 Math, 2 Science, 1 World History, 1 US History, .5 WA History,
.5 Computer, .5 Careers, 2 PE, 1 Fine Arts, and electives. An Honors Diploma requires a 4th year of English, Algebra II, Physics or Chemistry, .5 more History, and 2 years of the same foreign language. All courses required for university entrance are offered.
