The Journey
The elementary years are a time of tremendous growth, discovery, and imagination. Students begin building the academic foundations that will support them throughout their lives while developing confidence, curiosity, creativity, and a lasting love of learning.
At Chrysalis, we believe childhood should be filled with opportunities to wonder, explore, create, and play. Our elementary program thoughtfully balances academic challenge, meaningful relationships, movement, creativity, and joyful learning, allowing children to develop not only as students, but as thoughtful, capable individuals. Students are encouraged to ask questions, take risks, discover their strengths, and grow at a pace that reflects their unique development.
Learning
Every Chrysalis student follows a personalized learning pathway designed around their strengths, interests, and developmental readiness. Students rotate between teachers and learning environments throughout the day, experiencing a combination of individualized instruction, small-group classes, and collaborative learning experiences. This flexible model allows students to engage with material at an appropriately challenging level while building strong academic foundations and growing confidence as learners.
Teachers have the flexibility to draw from curriculum across grade levels, allowing students to move ahead when they are ready, spend additional time strengthening important concepts, and experience success throughout their educational journey.
Discovery
Exploration is an essential part of the elementary experience. Students participate in core academic studies in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and PE while discovering new interests through art, outdoor education, world languages, creative play, STEM, math games, problem-solving, tabletop role-playing games, and student-designed learning experiences.
Hands-on projects, movement, outdoor exploration, and unstructured play are woven throughout the day because we know children learn best when they are actively engaged. Students are encouraged to make choices, follow their interests, and experience the joy of discovering what excites them.
Belonging
Children thrive when they feel known, valued, and connected. Our high staff-to-student ratio allows teachers to develop meaningful relationships with every child. We intentionally cultivate a culture rooted in kindness, respect, and believing the best in one another—creating an environment where students feel safe asking questions, taking academic risks, and growing into their best selves.
Throughout the year, students build community through field trips, celebrations, family events, and shared traditions that strengthen friendships and create a genuine sense of belonging.
