The Journey
High school is a time for students to discover who they are, deepen their interests, and begin shaping the future they envision for themselves. At Chrysalis, students become active participants in designing their education. They align their coursework with their strengths, passions, and post-secondary goals while developing the confidence, independence, and self-awareness needed to navigate life beyond graduation. By the time students leave Chrysalis, they not only know what they want to study—they understand how they learn best and who they are becoming.
Learning
Every student's academic program is thoughtfully designed around their interests, abilities, and aspirations. Their individualized schedules combine one-to-one instruction, collaborative seminars, independent study, and highly personalized coursework. They may pursue a broad liberal arts education or concentrate more deeply in areas such as STEM, the arts, or world languages.
Learning is intentionally flexible, allowing students to move at an appropriate level of challenge while developing the habits of independent learners and preparing for college and future careers.
Our graduates leave with strong academic preparation, confidence in their abilities, and the skills to advocate for themselves in higher education and beyond.
Discovery
Students have the freedom to pursue learning with depth and purpose. Electives, community experiences, student-designed courses, career exploration, and portfolio development all allow students to connect their education with the future they hope to create. During their senior year, students complete a careers and portfolio class that helps them reflect on their strengths, explore potential career paths, prepare college applications, and demonstrate the growth they've achieved throughout high school.
Students don't simply complete graduation requirements—they develop a clearer understanding of their interests, values, and aspirations.
Belonging
Relationships remain at the heart of the Chrysalis experience during high school. Students develop lasting mentoring relationships with teachers who know them well and challenge them to grow academically and personally. As leaders within the school community, they mentor younger students, contribute through student government and National Honor Society, and help shape the culture of Chrysalis. Graduates leave with close friendships, trusted mentors, confidence in themselves, and a strong sense of purpose.
